Getting Started with the Scenario Editor
Download and Installation
First of all, make sure to purchase the Expert mode, by acquiring one of our "Captain" or "Major" Packs, if you haven't already done so. This will automatically unlock the Scenario Editor for download directly from your Days of Wonder Online account.
Once this is done, download the Editor from this page: http://www.daysofwonder.com/download
: if you are running Windows and that you had an earlier version, make sure you un-install
it before installing the new version. The earlier version won't upgrade automatically.
Also, make sure you download (and read!) the documentation.
Starting the Application
Important: your computer needs to be connected to the Internet
to use the software. At, least, at the beginning. There are two reasons for this. First, the software is smaller than before because all the terrain graphics are not
contained in the application anymore: they are now downloaded on a need-basis. Second, the new Expert tab is loaded directly off our servers, which will allow easy updates of this feature without reinstalling a new upgrade every time. :-)
If you want to work offline, you can! Just make sure that you downloaded all graphics. Simply activate all expansions, and wait for the terrains to load. Then open the About box
and check out the "Status" field: it it says "Possible", it means that the software is up-to-date. Otherwise, you will probably see the "Actvity" field being busy with downloads.
Of course, if you want to save your scenario to Days of Wonder Online, you'll have to be connected to the Internet. So if you are offline, save your work on your disk.
Current version of the Editor
The current version of the editor is: Version 1.2.
Once you have the editor, you can start it, which defaults to the Map Tab
